Commercial Meat- Mechanic/Facility Maintenance Meat Plant
Location: 7820 Industry Ave, Pico Rivera, CA (Please do not apply at the location)
Compensation: $30hr to $35hr DOE, Non-Exempt/Hourly Position
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (May required to work on weekends on an emergency basis) 7am – 3:30pm
Responsible for troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of
production machines, plant facilities and for the proper preventative
maintenance of the plant and production equipment assigned. (i.e., Policies,
procedures, etc. for which you are responsible.)
Installs, repairs, and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance. Locates
sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles
machinery and removes/replaces defective parts. Determines changes in
requirements of parts by inspecting and measuring various instruments.
· Diagnose and repair malfunctioning production and plant
equipment (Type of Machinery: Meat grinders, Meat flaker,
Patty machines, Meat dicers, Band saw ,Vacuum pack machines, Vacuum tumblers, Scissor lift, Pallet jack, Fork lifts, Floor scrubber, Floor scales, Pressure washer)
· Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment
· Lubricate equipment on a scheduled basis
· Replace broken belts, bearings and motors on equipment as necessary
· Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and controls for production equipment and
throughout plant
· Perform related duties as assigned
· Keep area clean
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Capable to perform duties of Production
Machine Technician. Minor AC/DC electrical troubleshooting skills. Basic
understanding of mechanical applications and principles. Basic part
identification. At least (5) years of experience in a food manufacturing plant
Basic knowledge of at least two of the following.. (a) Packaging equipment
repair and maintenance (b) Processing equipment repair and maintenance (c) HVAC
systems repair and maintenance (d) Hydraulic systems troubleshooting and
repair. Be able to Identify bearing type and size for lubrication. Be able to
identify the correct lubrication and amount for the application on all
lubricated surfaces.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must demonstarte mechanical competency and is able to perform some work on support equipment.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic packaging equipment
- Basic electrical competency
- Proficent in JDE, able to create and close out work orders.
- Basic use of hand/power tools.
- Basic use of shop equipment.
- An understanding and history of following GMP and other related food manufacturing policies.
- Knowledge and utilization of Safety programs such as LOTO and confined space entry.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and diagrams and to understand and follow verbal instruction and basic hand drawn documents.
Physical Demands:
Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting,
kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to
perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50
pounds or more with assistance. Additional demands may be required.
Work Environment:
In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours and
weekends as needed. May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include
extreme cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles,
toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing and able to wear
personal protective equipment as required by established Company Safety
standards.
