Job Description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate should possess the necessary skills to maintain and repair both diesel and gasoline engines and be able to perform equipment servicing both indoors within a maintenance facility and outdoors in an austere desert environment. It is important that the applicant demonstrates proficiency in accurately diagnosing and troubleshooting diesel and gasoline engines, powertrain issues, and brake systems. Familiarity with electrical systems can significantly enhance an applicant's qualifications. The perfect candidate should be capable of transporting, setting up, and maintaining diesel-powered generators while ensuring that the trailers are in good condition and roadworthy. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to train on and use proper personal fall arrest systems, which are mandatory when working at elevated heights. The incumbent must be capable of working on heavy military equipment such as M-Series 5-ton vehicles and M-60 main battle tanks that make up the mobile target array. Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the operation of heavy equipment are highly desirable for this position. The successful candidate will be expected to acquire the necessary skills to operate up to and including a 15K front-end loader and forklift. Certification or general knowledge of heating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems is highly desirable. If no certification exists, the incumbent should possess the aptitude and desire to be trained in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems. The individual in this role will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all equipment, following established procedures, and utilizing Local Work Cards (LWC), operating procedures, technical manuals, and other relevant documentation. Occasionally, this position may require travel to remote locations to perform maintenance on designated equipment. Such travel may necessitate overnight stays or multi-night accommodations in a hotel, as needed. The selected candidate will receive training to accurately annotate preventive maintenance inspections and generate corrective maintenance job orders in the company's Maximo database. It is expected that the candidate will possess effective communication skills to interact with customers through email, phone, and face-to-face meetings. Clear and concise communication is essential when interacting with customers, and the candidate must be able to deliver effective solutions to meet their requirements. The applicant will also be required to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance up to the Secret level.

Desired Qualifications: Good working knowledge of vehicle and trailer electrical systems, knowledge of HVAC systems, and familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Familiarity with office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is desirable.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must be a graduate from an accredited two-year technical mechanical institution or equivalent, or at least eight years of job-related experience.

In addition, a Mechanical Tech III must also possess the following qualifications:

  • Must be capable of operating heavy equipment
  • Must be able to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance
  • Must have a valid, state issued driver's license

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $69,950 to $76,960 annually.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting to 50 pounds and outdoor duties with exposure to natural weather. A government vehicle is used on an as-needed basis. Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. The incumbent must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. He/she must be able to work duty days in excess of eight hours and perform shift and weekend work to meet required schedule demands. This position may require travel.

If working in a training capacity, employees must be supervised at all times by a competent trained or certified company employee. Under no circumstances should employees use another employee's equipment without permission from their immediate supervisor or manager. Conversely, employees should not allow other JT4 employees or employees of another employer to use JT4 owned or assigned equipment without proof of training and approval of the shop manager.
