Mechanical Quality Inspector participates in scheduled and unscheduled inspections to verify that products, at various stages of processing, conform to the requirements as defined by the customer and/or internal requirements.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety protocols, to all quality system requirements and to all environmental requirements
- Conduct receiving, in process, and final inspection as required.
- Ability to communicate at all levels, including vendors and customers.
- Perform Layered Process Audits
- Provide measurement equipment training
- 5s (central quality area and records)
- Attend / contribute to weekly quality team meeting
- Complete Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and weld conformance documentation (as applicable)
- Create rework tickets and/or generate reject tags
- Ability to work with little to no supervision and ability to make decisions
- Perform basic mathematical / geometry calculations
- Visual Weld inspection
- Participate in CAPA/RCCA analysis
- Participate in customer discussions / meetings when required
- Prepare customer-specific documentation (PPAP, ISIR, FAIR, etc.)
- Participate in the review and disposition of all internal and external rejections
Requirements Calipers, Micrometers (outside / bore), Square (combination), Tape Measure / Steel Rule, Protractor, Thread gages (rings / plugs), Wet and dry film paint gages, Depth Gages and Surface Finish Gages.
- Demonstrated ability to use hand tools like calipers, micrometers, linear gages, CMM, and other standard measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Possess strong process-based skills.
- Good understanding of technical and computer skills.
- Understands First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Detail oriented.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Team player.
- Experience in verifying detailed machined parts meet engineering drawing requirements.
- Experience performing precision measurements on machined piece parts while exercising an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
This position requires accessing all areas in the plant necessary to verify and study the processes. Regularly required to stand or sit, and move around the facility.
Education and Certification
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
