The Airframes, Structures & Radars, and Materials (ASM) leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. ASM uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

The Tactical Radar Products Department within the ASM Team is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Section Lead for a Mobile Radar Design and Production Team.

This position is in Fullerton, CA (Hybrid role)

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

The Section Lead performs direct line management activities and provides leadership for approximately 10 engineers.  The team consists of on-site, hybrid, remote personnel.  These activities include technical oversight of programs, technical development of people, training, performance management and resource allocation. 

The candidate will ensure two-way communication for section members; serve as the day-to-day liaison to the program concerning employee job assignments, performance and recognition, and technical oversight.  Responsibilities also include coordinating program staffing needs, optimizing resource utilization, and interviewing applicants.

The Section Lead will team with the Department Lead in the execution of ASM and Raytheon Engineering goals.  As the Section Lead, you will lead a diverse team of engineers by providing highly skilled multi-disciple engineering services across all program phases focused on the development, design, deployment, and operational system support of Sentinel radar products for use in US Government and Foreign Military applications.  The Section Lead will be responsible for leadership and mentoring of the team in proposal activities, program startup, and execution.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 7 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience in design and production of mobile radar products

  • Leadership experience in frontline or project leader roles

  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems

  • Experience in military applications and environments

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. 
    U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:   

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related discipline

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances)

  • Experience with ANSI drawing standards and/or first order or structural analysis techniques.

  • Experience with CREO(Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software

  • Experience working with suppliers or production facilities during manufacture and assembly of mechanical products.

  • Experience with proposal capture process and development of TINA compliant basis of estimates for US Government contract

  • Experience with the Estimate at Complete (EAC) process

  • Experience in requirement compliance and product qualification processes

  • Familiarity with performance development processes

  • Familiarity with labor forecasting

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Working knowledge or experience with military radar equipment

  • Familiarity working with US Government, DCMA, and/or customers during program development and selloff.

  • Experience in technical subcontractor management

  • Advocate for process improvement (e.g., CMMI, Six Sigma), team builder, and ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with internal resources.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
