Mechanical Engineer Student Co-op/ Internship
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Quality Electrodynamics (QED) is a global developer, manufacturer and supplier of advanced medical equipment electronics. Current products include cutting edge MRI radiofrequency (RF) antennas/coils for diagnostic imaging at the full range of magnetic field strengths. Most of these are FDA Class II noninvasive devices used for obtaining diagnostic images for various human anatomies. QED is located in Mayfield Village, Ohio.
JOB SUMMARY
A Mechanical Engineer Co-op/ Internship role is an educational opportunity for an Engineering student to work alongside senior engineers in the design and development of mechanical components and solutions for RF Coils utilized in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). This role will be responsible for individual and team assignments and will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, manufacture and service complex MRI systems and components throughout all phases of the product development life cycle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the Mechanical design and analysis of RF coils
- Verification and validation of mechanical design, including supporting engineering builds and testing
- Failure analysis of mechanical components
- Exposure to manufacturing processes, including 3D printing
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Third or fourth year student majoring in Mechanical Engineering, biomedical engineering or related field
- Prior professional internships, relevant lab or university experience a plus
- Basic SolidWorks experience a plus
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook and internet
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Fast learner with ability to multitask
