Responsibilities
Noblis MSD's mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions' to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Noblis MSD is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer.
The candidate will provide engineering and technical guidance utilizing ships's specifications and technical manuals for Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment. The candidate will be responsible for performing various support functions for surface ship maintenance planning; availability work planning; engineering analysis; preventative maintenance development, scheduling, and documentation; calibration support; maintenance instruction document program administration and quality management process supervision.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Leverage US Navy HM&E systems knowledge in support of in-service engineering programs.
  • Perform Testing for systems and associated components on Navy ships. Testing performed both shipboard and in lab settings, with limited to no supervision required.
  • Develop testing requirements based on anticipated performance of software and/or hardware.
  • Design functional test cases for (electrical or mechanical) systems and integration points and conduct tests.
  • Identify and resolve technical faults and repair or replace faulted components. Contribute to the development of recommended technical solutions.
  • Generate detailed technical write ups that describe testing performed, troubleshooting steps, and findings.
  • Draft system configuration reports and alteration instructions outlining system specifications, for new installations and modifications of existing systems and components.
  • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot components using various documents, including structural/arrangement drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.
  • Redline and interpret technical drawings and documents
  • Act as an in-service engineering agent (ISEA) team member for fielded system deployment, testing, and repair.

Qualifications
U.S. Navy fleet experience to include knowledge of the maintenance policies and procedures for NAVSEA. A minimum 15 years' work experience with overall planning, maintenance related programs with an emphasis on:
  • Interfacing at a working-level with various surface ship maintenance engineering organizations and understand the relationships between them to include engineers, technicians, project managers, and maintenance teams.
  • Engineering experience with and/or U.S. Navy surface ships (DDG, FFG, LCS).
  • Working knowledge of Navy ship depot level maintenance processes.
  • Working knowledge of the theory and principles of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
  • Process oriented and organized skills for quality results.
  • US citizenship with current DoD SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Bachelors degree in a technical field; six years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis' total compensation package for employees.
