Based in West Hartford CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 500 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern to join our West Hartford, CT team. The Mechanical Design Intern will support a range of technical responsibilities in a high pace manufacturing production environment. The internship will provide a college-level student with practical experience related to his or her major that will enhance and complement classroom learning.

 

The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent mechanical, analytical, and problem solving skills, good writing ability, and must be self-motivated with good interpersonal and team skills. Familiarity with principles of mechanical engineering, experience with a 3D modeling software, understanding of basic manufacturing techniques, and must be pursuing a BS degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering. 

Responsibilities

•3D CAD modelling of aerospace components and assemblies from existing drawings or from guidance of other engineers.
•Design tooling/tooling assemblies, or fixtures and create drawings for manufacturing of parts. 
•Prepare various CAD models for use by analysis team or other engineering groups.
•Perform various engineering hardware evaluations and tolerance studies.

Qualifications

•Qualified candidates must be in their Sophomore, Junior or Senior Year, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. 
•Pursuing a Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
•Strong 3D modelling experience.
•Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•Good interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels in the organization.
