Job description

General Overview

Designs, develops, and tests new IntelliServ technologies, including components, products, processes and tooling.  Responsibilities include mechanical research and development, with a focus on technologies that will enable the next generation of products and services offered by IntelliServ. Responsibilities for specific projects will be assigned in areas of process improvement. In addition to common mechanical engineering responsibilities, some projects will include designing systems that utilize various chemicals and chemical reactions. Receives technical collaboration on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval for projects. 

Essential Job Functions

        Performs design calculations and failure analysis of products and/or components.

        Translates concepts into CAD (ProE) models for review and analysis purposes.

        Defines tolerances based on sound machine design and utilizes GD&T when appropriate.

        Assembles and tests prototypes prior to introduction into production

        Implements tools or products into production training sessions, procedure sheets, maintenance  schedules, reference spreadsheets, etc.

        Assists and directs technicians in performing supporting work for assignments.

        Develops and follows test procedures that gather needed information in a fast and accurate manner.

        Writes reports that draw clear and logical conclusions.

        Works with personnel in other departments and other disciplines to complete project assignments.

        Assists with the creation of Part Numbers, Bill of Materials (BOM), and revises Drawings, Parts and BOMs.

        Trains and mentors other team members.

        Performs other tasks and duties as assigned

Preferred Job Qualifications

        Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in closely related field; plus 5 to 8 years of experience in field of specialization or MS degree plus 0 to 2 years of experience.

        3 to 6 years of previous experience in manufacturing plant environment is preferred.

        3 to 6 years of oil and gas industry experience is preferred.

        Experience managing multiple priorities and complex projects.

        Excellent written and spoken English language skills.

        Strong experience with computers and electronic media/devices in order to facilitate work assignments via the Internet, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other software programs.

        Proficient at using CAD packages (Pro Engineer, Solidworks) and translating concepts into these models for review and analysis.

        Proficient at using Adobe Acrobat and PDMLink.

        Ability to learn JDE as related to this job's responsibilities.

        Sound working knowledge of general principles, concepts, theories, and practices in field of specialization.

        Applies advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Applies mathematical      operation to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability, validity, variance, sampling and factor analysis.

        Proficient in designing and carrying out tests of mechanical products.

        Experience creating and revising part numbers, Bill of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing drawings.

        Experience with wiring, programming, and DMM's. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

        Strong experience designing mechanical engineering test procedures, including set up and calibration of test equipment.
