Job description

Purpose

Under limited supervision, conducts tests to determine the quality and performance of machines produced. Will Report findings accurately and completely to meet customer quality and performance exceptions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Receives machinery from manufacturing and using an automatic test bench, hooks up and tests the machine to pre-determined testing parameters by following work instructions and instructions given on the test bench screen. Able to test at 75% of machine variants produced.

· Makes adjustments to the machine to optimize performance based on feedback from the testing bench, such as air band adjustments.

· Perform manual testing in addition to the bench per work instructions, such as smoke testing.

· Provide written and/or electronic identification on all nonconforming materials discovered through the inspection and testing process.

· Perform visual inspections of the machinery for quality of workmanship. Includes looking for leaks, cross threaded/loose fasteners, wrong/missing parts, paint defects, and label/serial plate accuracy.

· Able to perform simple repairs such as stopping a leak by tightening a clamp or belt, touching up paint, improving fit/gaps with adjustments to fasteners.

· Report non-conformances to assembly line lead/supervisor/Quality Control as instructed. Must provide clear information in detail of what problem was found.

· Keep area clean, neat, and orderly and in a safe condition at all times.

· Follow all safety rules at test area and wear PPE as instructed, and inform visitors to area of safety requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical school, skilled trades, college degree a plus.

Experience

· Must have strong mechanical abilities working with small engines, pumps, generators and how they function together as systems. Electrical systems experience a plus.

· Must be able to read, understand, and apply information from instruction manuals, parts drawings, and wiring diagrams.

· Basic use of MS Outlook for email and Excel for data collection, and ability to learn to use test bench software is required.

· 1 year of assembly experience, with cross training experience in testing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Familiarity with hand tools is required.

o Hand / air screw driver, nut driver, tape machine, adjustable wrench, cable tie gun, wire cutter/stripper/crimper, hammer, hand and air ratchet, needle nose pliers, torque wrench, torque gun, knife, scissors, tape measure, ring pliers, vice grip, vice, hand press, hose cutter, tap, banding machine, rivet gun, lift table, air chunks, air impact, stapler, foam gun, nail gun, heat gun, electric drill, and scrapper.

· Ability to work around heavy machinery and fork lifts.

· Ability to work with gasoline, diesel, propane, antifreeze and high voltage testing equipment.

· Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

· Operate Material Handling equipment.

Language Skills

Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Mathematical Skills

Understanding of basic performance units of measure such as inches of water column, pressures, horsepower, volts/amps, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with arms and hands use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Standing for 8 hours and frequent walking required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, vibration, fumes and air particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually high, proper protective equipment is required. Work environment is occasionally fast-paced and stressful.
