SUMMARY:
General Description
Industrial machinery mechanics and maintenance workers maintain and repair factory equipment and other industrial machinery, such as conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment.
1.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The mechanic fabricator reports directly to shop supervisor and it's evaluated by their assigned Production supervisor. The mechanic fabricator CNC press brake operator may receive directions and guidelines from their lead person.
2.0 REQUIREMENTS
- Education
2.1.1 Preferred: A high school diploma or GED.
- Experience
- Required: At least 2 years in steel fabrication or elevator manufacturing.
- Must demonstrate CNC operating skills & basic mechanical & experience.
- Knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Be able to determine what tools are needed and how to change set ups.
- Basic machine maintenance skills.
- Knowledge in sheet metals tolerances.
- A desire to learn and master new tasks and have the ability to work with reasonable supervision and with other employees.
- Skills/Knowledge
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and follow through to completion. This position requires a person to have mature outlook to handle constructive criticism and perform all job documentation and other necessary paperwork as directed by the Production Supervisor.
Operate a CNC press brake to manufacture elevator components from sheet metal or metal plates. Prepares, sets up, and adjusts press brake are required by product plans and production schedules. Ensures that there are sufficient raw materials available.
Good work ethic with the desire and capability to learn to be skilled in all phases of elevator manufacturing including steel fabrication, welding, wood shop, painting operations, material handling and crating. Ability to work safely, produce quality work at the required output level and follow directions. Ability to respect the authority of supervision and management.

2.4.1 Body Positions: Regularly requires walking and standing for pro-longed periods of time. Requires the ability to bend, stoop and reach for product.
- Body Movements: Must have good use of hands to finger dexterity to manually handle material. Ability to handle or feel objects to
- Pick up and carry. Ability to use small hand tools. Ability to load and unload vehicles and move materials.
2.4.3 Body Senses: Must have command of sight, hearing, and touch. Vision must be sufficient to realize distant and close objects, depth perception, peripheral, as well as color vision and the ability to adjust and focus.
- Strength: Frequently involves heavy lifting up to 50 lb. utilizing proper lifting techniques.
- Mental:
Must be able to take direction, ability to learn various job tasks, receive constructive criticism and be self-motivated.
- Working Conditions:
Primarily works in a shop environment that can be hot and humid in the summer and cold in the winter. The shop can be loud, dusty and dirty.
