JOB TITLE: Mechanic Shop Laborer
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, non-exempt
LOCATION: Metalico Buffalo (127 Fillmore Ave. Buffalo NY 14210)
HOURS: Monday – Friday 7:00am-4:00pm
PURPOSE: Provides assistance to Mechanics to service and repair on-road and off-road heavy equipment.

PURPOSE: Provides assistance to Mechanics to service and repair on-road and off-road heavy equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in a wide variety of repair and/or maintenance work on all types of vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Provide physical assistance to mechanics when servicing or repairing vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Assist with the basic preventative maintenance on all diesel vehicles, heavy equipment such as material handlers, loaders, excavators, forklifts, etc.
- Assist with maintaining the inventory of tools and supplies.
- Perform routine maintenance duties, cleaning, lubricating tools as required.
- Clean and prepare shops in a tidy and safe manner.
- Comply with all company safety measures and government regulations.
- Communicate with managers, supervisors, co-workers, drivers, and customers clearly and respectfully.
- Must be able to work assigned schedule.
- Must be able to perform a variety of tasks in all kinds of weather conditions.
- On the job training opportunities intended for job advancement to transition to Mechanic role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (over 50 lbs.)
- Squat and kneel.
- Bend and twist as appropriate
- Sit/stand for long periods at a time.
- Quick learner who can follow directions.
- Good communication skills.
- Team player.
- Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.
