Mechanic
Work Closely with the Mechanic Supervisor and other team members of Stewart Brothers Drilling Company in implementing and managing the strategies to ensure company goals are being achieved. Stewart Brothers Drilling (SBD) Mechanic Job Duties are to maintain and repair SBD owned equipment and components in the shop and in the field. The Mechanic must be willing to work when asked. Learn in an informal learning environment and provide valuable input to progressively improve SBD fleet & equipment.
The Mechanic must:
Promote constant motivation among SBD staff to strive for an efficient and effective work environment.
Adopt and implement a 6S Management style for the shop. Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Safety, Standardize, and Sustain
Maintain the shop to meet OSHA standards.
Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans that advance and improve SBD fleet
Utilize “FIIX” as part of the maintenance program to see what work needs to be done
Diagnose and repair all parts of company equipment as may be required according to SBD, DOT & FHTSB standards or company standards.
Diagnose any mechanical, electrical, or other breakdown or failure to any SBD equipment that is part of the fleet.
Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
Read precision instruments such as voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators, and other electronic diagnostic tools.
Maintains vehicle appearance by overseeing the cleaning, washing, and painting of all SBD equipment.
Help control costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of the component parts and systems on the equipment, or the component parts and systems of the equipment.
When applicable use welding skills and knowledge of metals to complete equipment repairs.
Perform daily inspections of equipment within the yard and repair as necessary.
Communicate with drivers, drillers, supervisors and management to determine which repairs are necessary to determine priority, and provide an estimated time of completion.
Track parts usage to ensure the accurate billing of all parts are used in a repair.
Apply knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations to ensure SBD equipment is functional for its team members.
