Mechanic - Eligible For Retention Pay$

Summary: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include those described in the Mechanic description and the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.

· Operates a lift truck, drill press, power saw and any other tools and equipment that are relative to the function of the Maintenance Department.

· Working from specifications and prints, builds, installs, and maintains various types of fixtures and other equipment.

· Performs functions relative to mechanical maintenance work to a limited degree such as: arc welding, acetylene welding, cutting, brazing, silver soldering, tool grinding, sheet metal work, cement work, painting, packaging and shipping equipment, and simple carpentry work.

· Operates fixed and adjustable gauges and other instruments necessary to verify specified dimensions.

· Records and maintains Maintenance Records.

· Performs from method and instruction sheets and manuals with minimum follow-up.

· Assures that all safety and housekeeping practices are maintained at all times.

· Maintains for own use, those hand tools and measuring instruments necessary to function properly in this classification.

· Diligently seeks self-improvement in becoming the most efficient mechanic possible and willingly passes on information needed by others in the overall operation in a free exchange of vital information.

· Constantly watches over machines, tools and gauges assigned and ensures proper maintenance of such.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years experience as a Mechanic C; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.

Knowledge of the SAP Work Order system.
