Qualifications:
Preferred documented experience as a mechanic
Education/Certification:
Texas Driver's License
Clear and valid Texas Commercial Driver's License Class B CDL with (P) passenger and (S) school bus endorsement
OR Clear and valid Texas Driver's License with ability to obtain Class B CDL license with P and S endorsements within 90 days after employment.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Performs fluid services and changes as determined by the Preventive Maintenance schedule of the fleet.
- Performs parts installation and mechanical repairs of various diesel, gasoline vehicles.
- Performs minor service and repairs on mobile air conditioning systems using R134A and future refrigerants as required.
- Documents labor and materials on work orders accurately.
- Operates hand/power tools, hydraulic jacks and lifting equipment, and other tools using appropriate safety practices.
- Maintains bus fleet in a safe working condition.
- Disassembles simple components and cleans parts for reassembly.
- Assists mechanics with lifting and maneuvering heavy parts and components.
- Follows shop maintenance requirements and responsibilities as directed, including cleaning shop floors, stalls, driveways, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to be ON CALL when needed
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition and perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment according to established schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.
- Operate buses and other vehicles as needed.
