Schedule: This is a closing shift position scheduled until 9pm. This position will include weekend hours.
Pay Range begins at $16.00 per hour with additional compensation for experience

In this position you will:
Be the face of superior customer service for the department. Speak to local and organic meat and seafood options. Work effectively and efficiently within a team environment. Keep the department well-presented and full. Must have good work ethic, superior customer service skills and ability to work independently with speed and accuracy.
Requirements
The purpose of this position is to give exceptional customer service to shoppers by providing a well-stocked, attractive department: this includes cutting, packaging and merchandising product. This position also assists the department managers and leads in ordering and pricing product. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Department Operations
  • Serve customers from the meat and seafood case
  • Ensure proper tags and sale signs are on shelves and displays
  • Assist customers with questions and special orders
  • Offer suggestions for purchase, preparation and pairing in a friendly, courteous manner
  • Stock, rotate and maintain the cases within the department, sustaining a full and fresh appearance
  • Assist managers and leads in creating attractive displays with uniform signage
  • Cut and grind meats as directed by the department managers and leads
  • Follow Co-op recipes to make marinades and sausage
  • Prepare and package products with appropriate labels while giving products a professional and appealing appearance
  • Assist training co-workers in department knowledge and operations
  • Place orders with vendors as directed by managers and leads
  • Assist in setting prices to achieve margin goals

Department Maintenance
  • Ensure food prep, work area, utensils, equipment and display areas are maintained in sanitary, orderly condition meeting or exceeding health department standards
  • Follow USDA and NH State Law regarding the use, labeling, and handling of allergens
  • Follow standard Sanitation Operating Procedures schedule including: deep cleaning schedules, good health department scores, pest awareness and control, and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling procedures as per health department and organic standards
  • Participate in inventory counts as directed by management
  • Notify management of supplies needed and equipment problems or requirements
  • Follow and update opening and closing checklists
  • Monitor temperatures in cooler, freezer and cases

Qualifications

  • Regularly lift 50lbs safely
  • Ability to be mobile throughout entire shifts
  • Bend, squat, stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance
  • Ability to communicate with customers and coworkers
  • Sufficient vision to perform your job safely and accurately
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Use a telephone, printer, computer, copier, laminator
  • Operate equipment such as hand trucks, U boats, pallet jack, band saw, meat grinder, Cryovac
  • Handle knives and box cutters safely
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity and knowledge of current trends in the natural foods industry
  • Experience serving the public
  • Experience working in a retail Meat & Seafood department
  • Will be required to use step stools, step ladders, box cutters and pricing tools
  • Environment includes frequently working in a walk-in cooler and freezer

Salary Description
$16.00 + based on experience
