Job Description:
UP.Labs is a Venture Studio transforming the moving world with partners like Porsche, Alaska Airlines and a large North American retailer. We are seeking our 2024 summer cohort of MBA Interns who will join us on our journey to transform an industry. In this program based in both Los Angeles and Silicon Valley, you will have the opportunity to add value from day one - making real decisions that will drive our strategic plans as we build "HELL YES" startups with our corporate partners.
You'll work directly with world-class Product, Business, and Engineering leaders as we ideate and incubate portfolio organizations with some of the most prestigious brands in the world. From business operations "how do we operationalize this idea" to product research "how does this product differentiate itself", you'll support the team in taking ideas from sticky note to first customer.
In this role you will:
- Help drive ideation and incubation of new portfolio organizations, supporting a multi-disciplined team in different facets as they complete high-priority initiatives
- Build models, presentations, and collateral that help drive insight, recommendations and ultimately business decisions
- Gain an understanding of how the venture studio model works from the inside and within the current financial landscape
- Understand how each function of our lab team supports our products through both ideation and incubation
- Create a network of industry contacts including investors, entrepreneurs, and mentors to help shape your career post-MBA
You should have:
- A passion for building startups from the ground up; come to us with an ability to build models/investment cases, narrow in on opportunity areas / problems worth solving, and/or product research initiatives
- Understanding of how to scope and drive market, competitive and industry research, synthesize insight and drive to action / recommendations
- Ability to work as a team - we are an extremely collaborative team, we seek folks looking to empower each other, our work and our approach
- Ability to navigate uncertainty and chart a path forward - we ideate and build upon the best ideas, this requires an ability to create structure amongst the chaos of information, data and creativity that emerges in this process
- Ability to lead, coordinate and support strategic planning and project management for workstream/s
- Ability and willingness to relocate to Los Angeles
- Availability to start in May / June and stay until the school year commences (approx August / September
- We welcome students about to enter their MBA or current MBA students who have completed their first year and eligible to work Summer of 2024.
