Maywood - Full Time Police Officer

Job Announcement

MAYWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR:

The Borough of Maywood, Bergen County is currently accepting applications for the position of full-Time Police Officer. Police Officers work a 12-hour Pitman schedule and have a current signed contract with the Borough which expires on 12/31/2024. Maywood is a non-civil service municipality.

All applicants must currently have ALL of the following criteria:

1. A New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification as a fully certified Police Officer in New Jersey
2. Must be currently employed as a full-Time Police Officer with a New Jersey Police agency
3. Must have successfully completed a probationary period and possess a permanent appointment status for a minimum of 2 years by April 1, 2024 with the current agency
4. Currently possess a minimum of 60 college-level credits from an accredited college or university OR have completed at least two consecutive years of military service with an honorable discharge

OR these two criteria:

1. Graduated from a New Jersey police academy as an alternate route candidate within the last 21 months but is not yet employed OR is currently enrolled in a N.J. police academy as an alternate route candidate with a graduation date scheduled prior to October 31, 2024.
2. Currently possess a minimum of 60 college-level credits from an accredited college or university OR have completed at least two consecutive years of military service with an honorable discharge

• NO waivers
• NO SLEO I or II
• NO N.J. Correction Officers
• NO Out-of-State Certified Officers

The application is open to all New Jersey residents, however, we reserve the right to award preference for the following residents:

• Borough of Maywood residents 
• Bergen County residents
• Out of County residents

Applications/Resumes will be accepted until April 26, 2024 at 11:59 P.M.

Before appointment, all applicants must undergo and satisfactorily pass medical, psychological/psychiatric examinations, and drug testing. These assessments will be conducted according to accepted medical and psychological standards to evaluate the candidate's fitness and capability to fulfill the duties of a Police Officer. Additionally, they will determine the candidate's eligibility for inclusion in the Police and Firemen's Retirement System.

After the close of the application process, applicants will be notified when to respond to police headquarters for oral interviews.
