The Station Manager coordinates and manages effective methods within their station’s functions and tasks in order to achieve operational success while ensuring that fleet-related risk and safety requirements are met in a timely manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred; OR four years of experience in training, customer service management, or other management positions can be substituted for education. Specialized Training may also be considered.

Experience, knowledge, and skills required:

  • Must have the knowledge and ability to develop and train customer service, job skills and people skills programs
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques, training methods, people skills, and job skills. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes improving procedures and workflows. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of DOT and Harbor-related rules and regulations.
  • Possesses intermediate to advanced computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer, and PowerPoint.
  • Possesses excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct coaching, counseling, and investigative interviews with staff members while maintaining consistent standards and sound ethics principles.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and discussions in order to problem-solve issues.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with executive management in the development and execution of strategic objectives that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Ensure station compliance with all DOT and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Manages the station’s annual budget in coordination with the Vice President and Budget Analyst.
  • Oversees the recruitment process for drivers and dispatchers; Interviews and evaluates candidates to fill vacant positions within the station as needed.
  • Manages and directs the Assistant Manager in the coordination of daily duties and administrative functions given to staff. Communicates with the Assistant Manager on a consistent basis.
  • Communicates with, and initiates directives from the Vice President.
  • Maintains consistent dialogue with management to ensure operational and administrative needs are met.
  • Ensures fair, consistent, and confidential treatment of employee issues and disciplinary action. Collaborates with the Vice President and Human Resources Department in the investigation and resolution of all issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintains management reports as assigned.
  • Receives, investigates, and resolves customer complaints and other operational problems in a timely manner under the guidance of the Vice President.
  • Coordinates with the Safety Manager in the oversight and investigation of accidents involving company drivers and vehicles.
  • Coordinates with the Safety Manager and HR in the oversight and execution of the Company’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
  • Contributes to short-term and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.
  • Develops, executes, and maintains operational goals, policies and service requirements for the station. Develops, executes, and maintains programs that will motivate and encourage department staff to work productively and efficiently.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and organized working conditions for all department, office, and commercial motor vehicles.
  • Resolves equipment issues; maintains inventory and status of all equipment (radios, computers, etc.)
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Vice President.

Physical, Mental, and Communication Demands:

  • Customer service duties require relating to customers, employees, and management in a friendly and professional manner at all times.
  • Working conditions require frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Physical demands may require lifting supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, multi-task and make sound decisions based on facts.
  • Duties require a flexible work schedule to supervise a seven (7) day, multi-shift operation. May require working on nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Duties may require working overtime.
