Discovery Ranch, a residential treatment center for boys aged 13-18, is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Math Tutor to join our team. At Discovery Ranch, we combine traditional and experiential therapies to create a clinically sophisticated and relationship-based approach to healing teenage boys and their families. As a Math Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students academically and fostering their personal growth.
As a Math Tutor at Discovery Ranch, you will work closely with our students to provide individualized instruction and support in mathematics. You will help students develop a strong foundation in math skills and concepts, ensuring their academic success and future opportunities. Additionally, you will collaborate with our academic team to create engaging lesson plans and strategies that align with each student's learning goals. Your mentorship and guidance will empower our students to achieve their potential and prepare them for a successful future.

Through our comprehensive academic program and experiential campus, our students engage in equine therapy and horsemanship programs, caring for a rescued baby calf, and daily chores. - Provide individualized instruction and support to students in mathematics
- Assess students' academic needs and develop personalized learning plans
- Create engaging lesson plans and activities that align with each student's learning goals
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for students
- Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and the academic team
- Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and guidance as needed
- Collaborate with fellow tutors and academic staff to ensure cohesive and effective support for students
Part-time | $15/hour | Monday-Thursday 4:00-8:30 pm with the possibility of Friday's 2-6pm
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching math, preferably with teenage students
- Strong knowledge of math concepts and curriculum standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport and establish a positive relationship with students
- Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with students facing challenges
- Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Proficiency in using technology tools for instruction and assessment
