High Level Mission Statement
It is the mission of Materials Management to aid in the creation and utilization of a supply chain that will support Kimball Electronics Group's business plan goals and long-term vision.
High Level Statement of the Role
The Materials Manager is responsible for the supply of materials in support of our customers' requirements and the alignment of suppliers with our strategic initiatives both short and long term. The position is responsible for MPS (Master Production Scheduling), Procurement, Receiving, Shipping and Warehousing. Additionally, the Materials area must work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality and others as needed to develop a lowest total cost of materials that includes the shortest cycle-time possible.
High Level Roles & Responsibilities
  • Support the development of long-range strategies to align the supply base with KEI initiatives.
  • Manage long-term objectives and oversee the Materials budget.
  • Oversee the procurement staff to ensure the most effective processes are developed and maintained.
  • Escalate and resolve potential supply issues.
  • Communicate supply chain information throughout the business.
  • Provide direction and leadership to material departments (Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving, Procurement and Planning)
  • Manage inventory to designated PDSOH goals.
  • Coach and develop the materials staff.
  • Support the Quality Department in improving Supplier performance at incoming.
  • Support KEI's business needs.
  • Support departmental, company and corporate policies and goals.
  • Work with customers and suppliers to understand their needs.
  • Participate as a standing member of the Global Materials Council, supporting its charter and objectives.
  • Drive economic profit through continuous improvement activities, including the support of the Six Sigma and Productivity initiatives.
  • Stay in tune with the latest Supply Chain Management trends and initiatives
  • Position includes using facilitation and mediation skills to help people solve problems and see other point-of-views
  • Sustain continuous process improvement.
  • Additional duties as assigned
