Materials Lab Assistant

Specialized Engineering is growing and has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Technician to join our Frederick, Maryland team!

Primary responsibilities include: Sampling and testing soils, concrete, aggregate, and asphalt materials in a controlled laboratory environment. Time management, organizational management, and attention to detail fundamental to success in role. Critical thinking, and the ability to complete various tasks with minimal supervision. Assist senior lab technicians in daily operations.

Weekend availability is required for this position: Standard schedule Monday-Friday or Tues – Saturday.

Successful candidates will:

- demonstrate reliable and timely attendance

- ability to work on a computer, i.e., word and excel

- work both in teams or individual setting

- be required to read, understand, follow directions and accurately document collected data

- be able to lift 40-60 lbs.

- have a valid driver’s license and reliable, independent transportation

Prior experience, or background in construction and engineering work, and ACI/WACEL/HMA certifications are a plus, but not required.

Hired candidates will be required to pass various industry-related exams for certification.
