This job posting is being used to fill permanent, full-time Materials and Stores Supervisor II, Correctional Facility positions. Vacancies will be filled in accordance with implemented hiring restrictions.
Please note - This recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies if additional positions become available.
You must have taken and passed the Materials and Stores Supervisor II, Correctional Facility examination, be a current state employee with lateral transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility to apply. Refer to the Examination Information section for additional information.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered.

Valley State Prison is located in the central San Joaquin Valley about 30 miles north of Fresno and in close proximity to Yosemite National Park. Surrounding communities are affordable and offer excellent educational opportunities.

Special Requirements

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously with staff, management, other agencies, and the public
  • Must have excellent attendance, punctuality, and strong work ethic
  • Extensive warehousing experience to include broad knowledge of stocking and receiving techniques and product forecasting
  • Extensive inventory experience and skilled in coordinating, conducting, and training staff in the completion of monthly inventories.
  • Ability to utilize and train others in the use of Warehouse equipment (Forklifts, electric/manual pallet jacks, etc.)
  • Skilled in Word, Excel, Outlook, BIS/SAP, or other Warehousing computer applications
  • Shall create and promote an equitable and inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated and valued
