FUNCTION:
Performs responsibilities of converting mat fibers into a finished product (including, but not limited to, minor maintenance, process operation, distribution, administration, quality, etc.) to maximize efficiencies and reduce cost. Performs responsibilities as part of a work group, certifying in maintains competency in all work areas through rotation and on an as needed basis.
DUTIES:
1. Performs process responsibilities relative to operation of mat roll up equipment, doffing, testing, inspecting, labeling, handling, packaging, etc.
2. Performs minor maintenance (including, but not limited to, changing/adjusting slitters, changing tube cutter blades, general hose repair, selected filter changes, inspect/adjust chain brushes, etc.) Notifies the appropriate personnel of any irregularities or malfunctions and takes corrective action within the scope of the job.
3. Assists other classifications with resolving product and/or equipment problems related to these responsibilities. Participates in troubleshooting and development projects.
4. Completes records and reports (including, but not limited to, audit sheets, test results, graphs, SPC charts, density charts, equipment setting, simple statistics, job changes, etc.)
5. Utilizes computer skills to control the processes, for communication, analysis, and troubleshooting (including, but not limited to, variance control, production changes, email, inputting data and analysis, developing reports, etc.)
6. Performs process responsibilities (including, but not limited to, process operation, scheduling, planning, working with other areas, etc.)
7. Procures test samples. Performs any physical property mat tests (including, but not limited to, tensile, square foot weight, LOI, cure, dimensions, peel strength, etc.)
8. Notifies appropriate personnel of test and audit results and/or any problems.
9. Performs audits and tests.
10. Reviews collected data to monitor quality and efficiency and identify the factors affecting them.
11. Assemble cartons, cut cores to length, and maintains/prepares other packing materials.
12. Operates a forklift and performs operator inspection of forklift on each shift and operates other material handling equipment; checks fluid levels and various forklift component systems for malfunctions; refills fluid levels as needed. Completes daily vehicle inspection forms.
13. Inventories, requisitions, and transports raw materials, packaging materials, supplies, or other materials.
14. Removes departmental waste (including, but not limited to, bales, scrap rolls, dumping scrap hoppers, and cleaning waste drainage system). Operates baler.
15. Ensures visual inspection of mat and identifies defects (including, but not limited to, dirt, pull back, torn mat, foreign objects, etc.)
16. Removes or cuts out defects in a safe manner (without touching the mat) using the tools or equipment provided and generally corrects mat per customer and/or code specifications.
17. Places material of questionable quality on hold and disposes of scrap and scrap rolls as required.
18. Performs general cleaning and dispenser refilling (including, but not limited to, cleaning sinks, sweeping, and mopping floors, refilling soap, and towel dispensers, etc.)
19. Transports minor and/or portable equipment, parts, supplies, and furniture as directed.
20. Performs general cleaning in the Department’s common areas to maintain a standard level of cleanliness (including, but not limited to, restrooms, offices, etc.)
21. Prepares surfaces for and applies paint and other protective coatings to equipment, floors, building facilities, etc.
22. Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as established within the Plant.
23. Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by Management.
