Material Expeditor/Planner

Schedule:
Full Time: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Position Summary:
The Expeditor/Planner is the first line of troubleshooting and problem solving for all materials flowing through manufacturing. This position monitors schedules, due dates and shortages and coordinates solutions with other departments within LECO.
Position Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and expedite flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between depts. in accordance with production and shipping schedules
- Provide daily support to the planning function and resolve problems as needed
- Investigate the cause of critical material shortages and schedule delays and initiate action to ensure that work progresses on schedule
- Keeps departments informed about completion dates, material changes or substitutions and schedules modifications
- Maintains and communicates shortage lists for all phases of procurement and manufacturing
- As required, conduct inventory analysis on assigned raw materials and parts and take necessary actions to reduce and/or eliminate
- Will assist Planner as needed
- Substitute for others in Production Control as required
- Provides delivery information for standard sales orders and optical package sales orders
- This position stops shipments if in their determination the part is not fit for use
- Distribute electronic shortage reports to departments
- To provide a promise date for standard sales orders and optical package sales orders
- Change schedule dates if an order can ship earlier than estimated
Position Requirements:
- Demonstrate general understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment and bills of materials
- Independent thought, good judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize multiple projects
- Open-minded and team-oriented attitude is required
- Self-motivated with little or no supervision – good interpersonal skills
- Basic proficiency in computer skills (ORACLE, Excel, etc.)
- Quality Training (minimum in-house LECO training)
- Work with minimum supervision; good work habits and attendance
Education/Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
