Job description

Position Summary

The primary function of this position is to ensure that volunteers, youth and families have the support needed to be successful in their mentoring relationship. Supports provided must be in alignment with BBBS Standards of Practice and BBBSRI policies and procedures. Match support is conducted to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers and volunteers/parents with BBBS. Additionally, Match Support Specialist provide wrap-around case management services to Mentors, Mentees and families.

Performance Measures

The successful Match Support Specialist will produce positive outcomes in the following areas: match closure rates, match retention rates, average match length, customer satisfaction, Match Support completed, and Match Support on-time rates. Other performance measures include quality of work, work habits, interpersonal skills, decision-making skills, and appropriate documentation.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Attend match meetings. Accommodate volunteer and family schedules
  • Continually assess the match relationship focusing on child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development, and volunteer satisfaction. Real and/or potential problems and barriers are identified, addressed, and resolved as early as possible. Match support is provided on a frequency according to BBBS Standards, at a minimum.
  • Clearly document all match details, conversations, records, etc. in the agency database.
  • Assess and provide for individual training needs, information, and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer
  • Ensure high-level expertise in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function
  • Develop strategic interventions to identify and strengthen match relationships that require extra support to continue to grow
  • Develop, promote and implement individual and group match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the child and agency affiliation through individualized recognition, annual events, and reengagement strategies.
  • Effectively utilize program data to assess match impact on youth development
  • Conduct exit interview by phone with all parties at match closure. Assess reasons for match closure and re-match potential. When match terminates pre-maturely or unexpectedly refer exit interview to supervisor for third party assessment.
  • Consult with other service delivery staff and/or supervisor as appropriate
  • To ensure quality services and measurable outcomes, maintain accurate and timely records for each match according to standards and utilize technology to report, synthesize and analyze data

Other duties

  • Support Enrollment Specialists in execution of volunteer trainings as directed by Program Director.
  • Conduct volunteer and client reassessments/updates as directed
  • Assist with agency events including Bowl for Kids’ Sake, other fundraising or outreach events, as needed
  • Enrollment coverage as needed
  • Provide Mission Moments to the Development Department on a consistent basis
  • Take photo of the match at Match Meeting and send to Development Department
  • Provide timely content for the mentor newsletter, Facebook groups, and website
  • Attend trainings, case presentations, and conferences as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field required.

Experience working with diverse populations, both child and adult; specific assessment, intake or interview experience preferred. Must have car, valid driver’s license, and meet state-required automobile insurance minimums.

Demonstrated success in working effectively with a team of diverse human services professionals, community engagement, and ensuring program quality assurance.

Generally in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Pay: $43,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
