Job Title: Masters Swim Coach
Pay Transparency:$25/hour
Role and Responsibilities
The Masters Swim Coach is responsible for providing a safe and encouraging environment for adult swimmers to grow their capabilities and technique in the water. Offer a variety of training to different populations of varying abilities and swimming goals. Swimmer abilities range from beginner, intermediate, triathletes, recreational, to competitive (high school and masters level).
Specific Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Provide dynamic coaching and swim instruction to Masters Swim Team during scheduled workouts
- Have a lesson plan/workout prepared for the varied levels of swimmers.
- Assist in organizing and hosting one special event per month (swim meet, time trial, swim-a-thon/fundraiser, social events, etc)
- Attend monthly staff meetings/In-services and practice water safety skills.
- Make adjustments to workouts, as well as coaching style and technique, to accommodate a variety of abilities.
- Administer emergency care to members and guests in need of assistance
- Work as a TEAM with all other departments
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Other Functions
- Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active Wellness
- Promote club services and activities
- Perform routine maintenance of Aquatics equipment
- Assist with keeping the club well stocked and clean
- Attend Active Wellness site meetings and trainings
- Handle injury and illness and security incident reporting
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Previous health club personal training experience is a plus.
- Minimum of two years of competitive experience.
- Able to create workouts and brainstorm creative programming ideas.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- US Masters Coaching certification required within 6 months of hire date.
- Lifeguard certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer service
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industry
- AED/CPR/First Aid Certified
- National Personal Training Certification(s) required (see approved Certification, Licenses and Permits list) as well as modality specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)
- Proof of citizenship or legal status
Physical and Working Conditions
- Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others
- Ability to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbs
- Fitness club environment
- Must follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
