Job Title: Master Mixer

Job Summary:
The Master Mixer is a line driver that is able to perform every position in the production facility (fruit preparation, mixing, filling, and inventory systems). The incumbent in this role must be familiar with each recipe used and be able to make adjustments to the cooking process/fruit in accordance with R&D techniques and customer requirements (subject authorization and quantity limit per ingredient).


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and relief of the premix operators ensuring control of the flow of the production line while understanding all aspects of the cooking process.
  • Follow directions provided on recipe card and make any necessary adjusts to the batch depending on current state of the fruit.
  • Monitor, operate, and maintain equipment in a safe manner.
  • Ensure smooth running of the different stages of the process (prep, cook, fill, cleaning, etc.).
  • Continually monitor for cross contamination and foreign body risks to any ingredients or batches.
  • Continually manage and control all Allergens as determined by the Allergen Control Plan, so as to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Maintain product safety, legality, and the quality to Company and customer standard.
  • Provide training to all new hires to ensure that they fully understand their job and all of their necessary duties.
  • Notify maintenance and supervisor as needed regarding major mechanical or production issues.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area around their work station, including around and under machines and equipment.
  • Other duties, as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Mixing or Machine Operating role.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with all levels of management and maintenance.
  • Ability to start and complete the CIP process, understand, the sequences of the CIP, and can supervise the CIP.
  • Ability and willingness to perform Pre-Mix and Fruit Preparation duties, as needed.
  • Understand how the cooking system works (program and sequences)
  • Respect for FIFO, traceability, and the production schedule.
  • Ability to perform specific cleaning related to the use of organic and allergenic raw materials.
  • Strong math, reading, writing and literacy required.
  • Must be able to understand and operate machinery in a safe and productive manner,

according to SOP’s.

  • Ability to identify all machine and work center stop buttons, machine guards, hoods, doors and safety warnings, among other items, to ensure safety and efficient operation of the machinery.
  • Previous experience, aptitude and/or willingness for hands-on mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Follows 5S principles in Production areas; embraces and practices continuous improvement program at Bowman Andros.
  • Basic Computer skills strongly preferred.
  • Ability to distinguish between varying flavors / colors / consistency in ingredients and product with the senses, including sight, smell and taste.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment where priorities change frequently.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.


Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Mixer Operator 2 is required to work on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat and/or cold. The associate continuously works near moving mechanical parts, and is exposed to pinch points and hot surfaces. The associate will be exposed to loud noises from production equipment and thus will be required to wear PPE. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be high at times due to production and mechanical equipment noise.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be performed by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; see, talk and /or hear. The associate will be required to lift, climb, balance, bend, stoop, crawl and crouch. The associate is required to stand for up to a 12 hour period (with breaks). The associate is required to taste, touch and smell.

The associate will regularly need to lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally push or pull up to 75 pounds.
