Overview

DevTech is recruiting for a Master Data Management (MDM) Specialist to work as part of an agile team, supporting our client, the Office of the Chief Information Officer. The agile team will be investigating, planning, and implementing data standard guidance across a broad spectrum of systems and data repositories.  The results will demonstrate the value of MDM to improve awareness, availability, access, and capacity to transform the way our client collects, analyzes, and uses data to ensure development outcomes are supported by evidence. 

 

The MDM Specialist will be responsible for building the master domain(s) keeping with or enhancing existing data governance policies. Seeking an individual who not only values the importance of Master Data Management but understands the process and has had direct experience standing up a domain. Projects vary from requirements gathering only, through design and implementation of new data domains and products.  This role includes both hands-on technical work and stakeholder collaboration work. 

 

This position is hybrid in-person and telework, requiring three days a week in person at the USAID Annex building in Washington DC.

Responsibilities
  • Attend and document MDM meetings.
  • Work with the Senior Data Architect to formulate MDM approaches, identify tasks/action items.
  • Document and update requirements.
  • Convert requirements into code.
  • Clean and format data domains using pre-approved tools.
  • Create SQL queries to ETL or generate reports.
  • Create schemas as needed to support data domains.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field. Graduate degree strongly preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in a relevant field.
  • At least two (2) years of direct, recent, hands on experience with Master Data Management.
  • Experience with ETL and ELT concepts using Informatica Data Quality.
  • Experience with generating Rules for Data Discovery. 
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
  • Experience with applying data cleansing to new data domains.
  • Experience with Oracle complex SQL queries and views.
  • Ability to take initiative on broad directions (does not require continuous hands-on management).
  • Understanding of data models, i.e., 3rd normal form, star, snowflake.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts and terminology to laypersons.
  • Able to facilitate meetings as necessary.
  • Able to generate documentation, as needed.
  • Willing to learn new technologies.

Preferred: 

  • Erwin Experience.
  • Oracle SQL.
  • AWS Familiarity.
  • Azure Familiarity.
  • Current Secret security clearance preferred.

 

The candidate must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for the required U.S. government security clearance for this project.
