Reports to: Adult Discipleship Minister
Principle Function: The primary purpose of this pastoral position is to give leadership to a "Premier Marriage Ministry" which will serve the growing needs of the RPC congregation and our community by preparing couples for marriage, enriching marriage, and restoring marriages in order to develop thriving, life-long, God-honoring marriages. Additionally, the focus will be given to continuing RPC being known within our community as the "go-to place for marriage" and within the greater Christian community as having an effective marriage ministry that is ready, willing, and able to help others develop marriage ministry.

Major Responsibilities
Consistent with the primary purpose of this position, it is expected that a majority of this Pastor's time will be spent leading the marriage ministry; however, additional ministry responsibilities and time will be spent on providing leadership to other ministry areas as detailed below.
Marriage Ministry Objectives
• Continue to grow the marriage ministry based on a philosophy of being Christ-centered, biblically informed, and research-enhanced to prepare couples for marriage, grow marriages, and provide help to struggling marriages for the RPC congregation and surrounding community
• Provide marriage enrichment and support to our RPC staff families
• Continue to build a culture within RPC where couples are intentional about preparing for and building their marriage throughout all life stages
• Help develop, plan, and add leadership to RPC's yearly marriage emphasis (sermon series, events, classes, community outreach)
• Provide first-step counseling assessments and pastoral counseling for couples/individuals with marital struggles. Maintain a list of approved professional counselors for referral
• Identify, recruit, train, place, lead, encourage, and motivate new and existing marriage mentors/volunteers for marriage ministry (which will include our re|engage, Blended Family and DivorceCare ministries)
• Identify and/or develop adult curriculum and resources for a biblical/theological understanding of marriage and for relationship skills training (communication, conflict resolution, sexual intimacy, etc)
• Grow our existing Premarital Mentoring to nearly married couples.
• Look for opportunities to leverage Marriage training opportunities with other RPC ministries (i.e., Men's, Women's, Small Groups, etc.)
• Evaluate counseling needs based on initial introductory meeting session. Recommend potential counseling path and needs for adult/couple
• Develop and make available marketing collaterals designed to raise awareness of RPC marriage opportunities
• Develop relationships with and collaborate with other marriage and parenting church and para-church leaders to identify and implement "best practices"
• Develop and coordinate annual events/opportunities focused on the needs of pre-married/married/divorced couples and schedule those events on the church calendar
Additional Pastoral Responsibilities
• Provide general pastoral care and shepherding with a specific emphasis on marriage to the church family with a heart of love and compassion
• Preach and teach as requested
• Officiate at weddings, funerals, baptisms, Lord's Supper, and other services as requested
• Provide pastoral care through the oversight of RockPointe's counseling efforts
• Be available for visitation and other forms of encouragement and shepherding
• Assist with prayer request follow-up
• First contact for email and phone inquiries
Administrative Responsibilities
• Oversee budget development in areas of ministry responsibility and operate within the approved ministry budget
• Prepare annual/bi-annual ministry goals and reports
• Oversee church-wide communication for areas of ministry responsibility
• Full-time position
• Attend Dinner with the Pastor and lead in Membership Matters as needed
