Classification: 12 month, Full-time (salaried) staff. Salary determined by education and experience
Reports to: Superintendent

Position Details
The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for creating a positive online presence and promoting FMCSD and its activities on the social media environment. Part of this will be accomplished by attending academic and extracurricular events and activities. The position will be developing marketing strategies for the district and individual schools and programs to promote the brand. Additionally, this position will design print media as needed and update the district’s website with content from ongoing initiatives and day to day happenings. Position begins July 1, 2024 (flexible).

Primary Responsibilities
● Create brand awareness and unification across the district
● Promote positive interactions and activities at Fort Madison Community School District through social media and press

• Design and create marketing material

● Work with and report to administrators to develop marketing campaigns for buildings and programs

Additional Responsibilities
● Social Media Management
● Press Releases, Content Creation

● Create and maintain marketing plans for the district schools

● New Campaigns, Internal Newsletters

● Maintain district website and district app

● Take photos in classrooms, at school events, and activities/athletics to be posted on social media

● Maintain common editorial and graphic standards across school publications

Desired Qualifications
● Bachelor's Degree preferred, AA required
● Experience with Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and InDesign) preferred

● Experience with Canva

● Experience with photography and photo editing

● Experience producing content for web

● Experience using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram for professional use

● Experience with SEO analysis and optimization (Google Analytics, etc)
● Experience with marketing and/or public relations

Desired Skills
● Ability to work independently and collaborate with staff
● Manage time and workload to complete multiple tasks

● Ability to meet deadlines and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
● Excellent written and oral communication skills required

Experience:
● Marketing: 2 years (Preferred)
● Graphic Design: 1 year (Preferred)
