Location Description:

Overview:
The Marketing Manager will work with the managers of the various experiential business units at Turtle Bay Resort (e.g., spa, food & beverage, stables, golf, guides club, surf and water sports, farm tours, events/entertainment, recreational equipment rentals, etc.) to create strategic and action-packed marketing plans that enable the managers to exceed their revenue targets and other business objectives. This focus includes increasing the profitability of existing products as well as developing new products or product packages. The Marketing Manager will also work with the Director of Marketing Communications, Chief Commercial Officer, Director of Sales and other members of the Turtle Bay Resort team to develop and execute marketing campaigns, wholesale distribution strategies, group sales pricing and packages, Reservations/Concierge training, social media posts and promotions, manage and market new websites for some of the key business units, and determine the optimal advertising and promotional placements for the various experiential business units. This position at Turtle Bay Resort, will focus on the holistic guest experience, more aggressive revenue targets, and a desire for all guests to enjoy the unique experiential offerings at Turtle Bay Resort.

REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing
The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. Additionally, this role will require spending time with the business unit managers and with the guests in order to understand their issues and challenges; and to find innovative solutions for the broader market.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Experiential Marketing Champion – serve as the internal and external evangelist for the Turtle Bay Resort experiential product offerings to ensure that all guest-facing and management staff are aware of and knowledgeable about the product offerings, that the right message is being delivered to the various customer segments, that guests are actively participating in these offerings, that the service delivery meets or exceeds promises, and that guests are creating positive peer-to-peer reviews based on their experiences with these offerings at Turtle Bay Resort.
  • Strategic and Tactical Marketing Planning: act as the liaison between the Marketing and Sales team, Revenue Management, Reservations, Concierge, and the Business Unit Managers to develop and execute a marketing and sales plan for each of the business units that will enable the business unit managers to reach or exceed their business objectives. Business objectives may include total revenue, revenue per occupied room, pre-booked revenues (i.e., prior to the guests’ arrival), capture rate of units sold relative to number of in-house guests, and/or revenues or units sold by specific product or product category.
  • Marketing Execution and Analysis – work with the Sr. Marketing Manager to develop any required supporting collateral, display ads, paid search keywords, websites, public relations releases, advertising, content for direct marketing campaigns and/or other elements of the marketing mix so as to best promote the various experiential products to the target customers.
  • Analyze Product Performance – analyze product performance relative to goals as well as to competitive offerings and product trends in the marketplace in order to identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and/or an increase in capture rate. Leverage this analysis to develop creative solutions and marketing strategies/tactics to reach/exceed stated business objectives.
  • Partnership Opportunities – as available, identify and pursue attractive partnership opportunities that will enhance customer awareness, distribution, and/or guest participation in the experiential offerings at Turtle Bay Resort.
  • Budget/Forecast: Work in close cooperation with the various business unit managers to build a detailed, bottom-up annual revenue budget for areas of responsibility. Supply key inputs to the monthly or quarterly reforecast, using the most accurate, up-to-date information available. Be prepared to discuss assumptions used for developing revenue budgets and forecasts.
  • Special Projects: Participate in a variety of special projects as requested, including explorations of system or process improvements, and joint projects with other resort operating teams.
  • Active and Effective Team Member - participate in staff meetings, interface positively with other departments, offer assistance when needed. Present a positive company image through all phases of public and/or customer interaction.
  • Other – successfully perform other responsibilities as directed by the Director of Sales & Marketing, Sr. Marketing Manager, and/or General Manager
Qualifications:
  • College degree in Marketing or related field is preferred
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in a business-to-consumer (“B2C”) marketing environment, preferably with experience in leisure travel, hospitality, recreation, and/or product marketing
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in relation to a diverse set of audiences
  • Self-motivated, analytical, creative, quick learner, organized, detail-oriented, multi-tasker
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines for a variety of marketing “deliverables”
  • Demonstrates initiative with a results-orientation, while exhibiting strong drive and leadership
  • Skilled at working with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required; experience with graphic programs (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is desirable
  • Ability to listen, speak and write English to ascertain and respond to co-workers and customers
