POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing Communications and Social Media Manager promoteslibrary resources, services, and programs to create awareness and engagementwith Gumberg Library. Manages the library's Social Mediachannels. Servesas the library's media contact and liaison with the University's Division ofMarketing and Communications (DMC), and Alumni Office. The work includeswriting for library and university publications, developing accessible contentfor Social Media, and coordinating library events in collaboration with theUniversity Conference and Events Department as necessary.

DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages Gumberg Library's Social Media accounts including platformmanagement, content development, and regular posting aligned with mission andbrand guidelines.
Proactivelyseeks out and gathers information regarding upcoming priorities, events, andprojects from internal/departmental contacts.
Develops print and digital promotionalmaterials that effectively communicate the library's services and news to avariety of audiences.
Writes and edits articles for libraryand university publications.
Supportsfundraising activities by contributing content togrant applications, coordinating with the Advancement Office to plan thelibrary's campaign for the Duquesne Day of Giving, and maintaining thelibrary's donor relations web pages.
Coordinates withthe Alumni Affairs Office for library participation in program planning forHomecoming and other events.
Representsthe library at programs and events on campus and off campus in order to buildand maintain relationships with community members.
Reviewsanalytics regularly to determine how users are interacting with Social Mediacontent and uses data to make informed decisions.
Develops contentfor the library's display monitors.
Assists with videosand photography.
Completes otherduties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution inEnglish, journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or relatedfield from an accredited institution.
One to three years of relatedexperience in communications or public relations working with diverse clients.
Proven ability toestablish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers across acomplex organization.
Experience with socialmedia platform tools.
Excellent time management and organizational skills including theability to manage multiple deadlines.
Experience in creating, editing, and promoting written and visualcontent for marketing, and outreach with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellentinterpersonal skills, and ability to communicate effectively within and outsideof the library with diverse faculty, staff, library users, and communitymembers.
Willingnessto work a varied schedule including evening and weekends as needed to supportevents and deadlines.
Preferred qualifications
:
Knowledgeof Adobe Creative Suite.
Working knowledge ofhigher education landscape, trends, and issues.
Experience writing grants and fundraising materials.
