Overview
The Marketing Brand Specialist, Manual Consumables, plays a significant role in the development and execution of the Marketing Plan for both new and existing products. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Global Consumables team, own a P&L, and collaborate closely with our Sales partners to drive our Household Cleaning business. The ideal candidate is a go-getter who desires to learn the ins & outs of driving a business from end to end, leading both upstream new product development projects and downstream commercialization. The ideal candidate has strong cross-functional collaboration, leadership, analytical, creative development and selling skills. This role is an ideal training ground for someone who aspires to advance within Product Marketing and take on increased business leadership responsibility over time.
Key Marketing responsibilities include: 1) Driving our business via compelling selling presentations, customer demos, new creative content development, business analysis & optimal assortment recommendations, and a robust promo & IRC plan. 2) Gross Margin improvement plan development & execution, in collaboration with the full cross-functional team. 3) New product development, including developing the 3 Yr Innovation Roadmap and leading projects such as new product set-up, claims management, demo video creation, sample coordination and competitive benchmarking. 4) Driving Go-to-Market strategies by developing best-in-class content for eCommerce, packaging, videos, etc. and promo support plans. 5) Business & market reporting including POS, Share, Shipments, P&L, and competitive performance. 6) Collaborating with Sales, Demand & Supply Planning, and ChemPack Filling to drive forecast accuracy & fill rate. 7) Being a proactive and positive culture-builder within the organization and a key link between the BISSELL Marketing team and the broader organization.
Responsibilities
  • Commercialize new, existing, and derivative products (majority US with some international):
    • Develop, update and lead execution of go-to-market materials (packaging, point of purchase materials, demo videos, product feature videos, A+ content, etc.), partnering with internal Integrated Marketing and outside agency teams.
    • Manage & drive timelines to ensure products & creative are launched 100% on time.
    • Manage updates in BISSELL systems, such as product maintenance.
    • Work with Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain.
  • Own the P&L for the Manual Consumables category.
    • Gain an intimate understanding of business financials and drivers.
    • Drive Gross Margin improvement & ensure sustainable profitability of the category.
  • Support the sales team by providing compelling selling materials. Support customer meetings by participating in sales presentation development, presenting, and leading product demonstrations.
  • Develop a promotion / IRC calendar for Manual Consumables and analyze effectiveness of offers.
  • Support product launches and updates:
    • Serve as the Voice of the Consumer on cross-functional teams and for product launches and updates. Responsible for completing GPD deliverables and driving go-to-market timelines.
    • Structure new products and derivatives in BISSELL systems and update and maintain both domestic and international product matrices and claims.
    • Lead packaging, demoing product, and develop compelling creative to drive a unique and differentiated product portfolio.
  • Understand the consumer, competitors, market and business, perform data analysis and measurement.
    • Conduct strategic analyses regularly, draw insights, define conclusions, and make recommendations.
    • Lead research projects, including briefing, stimulus, imagery, and claims creation.
  • Manage ongoing portfolio maintenance and maintain detailed and accurate documents, including updating the Product Matrix, project claims, Product Obsolescence, Part Requests, Inserts, etc.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Education:
  • Degree minimum: Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred Specific concentration: Marketing
  • Preferred Experience level: 4+ years in Marketing

Specialized Training / Education Preferred: Marketing
  • Digital Experience

Skills Required:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
