Job description

As the Market Analytics Supervisor within the Market Analytics team at COUNTRY Financial, you will equip Market Managers (a.k.a. State Managers) with insights, data, and analysis to drive strategic business decisions and results. You will engage with a variety of critical components including ad-hoc analysis, tool development, competitive support, and insights as well as creating an on-going pipeline to find and develop undergraduates. In short, you will have the rewarding opportunity to drive Personal & Commercial Lines into the future by providing the analytic and data-driven tactical support that makes a difference at the local market level and raising up talent for the future.

This position allows full-time remote work.

How does a Market Analytics Supervisor make an impact?

  • Drives the successful development of new products and the effective management and enhancement of existing products by making recommendations regarding product design, pricing, underwriting, agency management, distribution, claims and other processes. 
  • Ensures overall goals for production and underwriting profitability are met by analyzing premium rates, loss experience and retention. 
  • In conjunction with marketing, develops state or lines of business profit and growth strategies and translates business ideas and market opportunities into new product ideas by researching and maintaining awareness of all major competitors' current market positions (i.e., rates, service levels, financial positions and operating strategies), business directions, financial dynamics, and new technologies. 
  • Communicates and coordinates key profit metrics by coordinating with the Information Technology (IT) department to ensure proper implementation of rate revisions, new products, new product features, and other initiatives; develops working relationships with Accounting, Actuarial, Claims, Customer Service and IT. 
  • Provides leadership by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. 
  • Manages the implementation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and activities in assigned areas.  Maintains current contact information for all employees in applicable areas and communicates with non-recovery employees during a disaster.
  • Foster a positive environment where all team members are motivated and committed to contribute their best work.
  • Create a safe environment where team members are supported to make decisions and take action to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Take personal responsibility for making tough decisions, meeting commitments, and adapting to ensure expected results are achieved. 
  • Assume responsibility for implementing practices to integrate diversity, equity and inclusion while holding self and others accountable.

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • Knowledge of personal/commercial lines insurance products and processes.
  • Broad understanding of financial statements and key drivers of growth and profit.
  • Provides leadership by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Creates an environment which encourages people to think, behave, act and control work, and make decisions autonomously to attain clear goals.
  • Takes personal responsibility for making tough decisions, meeting commitments, and ensuring expected results are achieved.
  • Experience with forecasting and modeling, leveraging Python / Microsoft Visual Studio Code.
  • Strong experience with SQL and understanding of relational databases.
  • Ability to work independently and quickly learn new data sets.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to small groups.
  • This is a leadership role, which typically requires 6 years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
