Global Diving & Salvage, Inc. (Global) is the largest diving contractor on the West Coast, based out of Seattle, WA, a leading provider of marine construction and infrastructure support services in the United States, and an internationally recognized casualty responder.

We are currently seeking a Shop Mechanic for our Seattle, WA office.

Position Description

The Shop Mechanic works closely with the Operations Manager(s) to ensure all regional company assets are maintained to GDS and regulatory agency standards.

General Duties

  • Maintenance of all equipment.
  • Must be able to perform and complete, without fault, all Essential Functions required of an entry-level mechanic.
  • Loading/unloading equipment to and from jobs.
  • Understands essential shop equipment and possesses basic shop environment knowledge, above and beyond hand tools.
  • Follow instructions given by supervisory personnel.
  • Performs work on their own as well as assists other employees as directed.
  • Must participate in all company-provided training.
  • Operates and inspects equipment to diagnose problems and defects and after repairs.
  • Maintains upkeep of work area, materials, and tools.
  • Confirm and track required life-support equipment maintenance, including assisting with audits.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

A vocational or technical certificate in diesel or automotive repair.

Experience

2+ years experience with diving systems preferred.

Previous Maritime experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • The ability to troubleshoot and repair:
    1. Diesel and gas engines
    2. Hydraulics (new builds)
    3. Electrical (AC and DC power supplies and control circuits)
    4. Quincy Air Compressors
    5. Pneumatic and hydraulic tools
    6. Marine Outboards and outdrives.
  • Familiarity with computers and MS Office Suite
  • Must possess working knowledge of industry requirements for equipment.
  • Must have verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work with a team and independently.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions.
  • Ability to work any day of the week, both night and day
  • Available for after-hour emergency response
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. Must be able to stand the following for up to 8-12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders; repetitive reaching, repetitive hand use.
  • Ability to meet DOT or HAZMAT Physical additional fitness ability requirements for the position you are filling.
  • Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Passport and TWIC
  • Travel to project sites and regional offices, approximately 20% (about 5-10 days per month).
  • Current GDS mandatory training and other required programs.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate for candidates in Seattle, WA: $21.00 - $27.00
