Marine Scheduler

The Marine Scheduler is responsible for the communication of information between Southern Devall’s Inland Marine Vessels, Shore Side personnel, Vessel Wheelhouse Personnel, Customers, and Marine Docks. Including, but not limited to, the transmission of job orders, gathering of vessel traffic details, and coordination of dockside activities. The Marine Scheduler reports directly to the Director of Canal Commerical Operations and VP of Marketing and Sales and is located in the Sulphur, LA office.

The Marine Scheduler:

• Assists in the management of incoming phone calls between vessels, customers, and dockside personnel.

• Prepares and communicates daily vessel and barge position reports to customers and to Southern Devall management along with any other pertinent information related to vessel activities or customer-specific requirements.

• Communicates vessel and barge ETA’s and any potential delays to customers, docks, Operations, and Sales & Marketing.

• Coordinates fuel and lube oil purchases for vessels as requested. Comparing fuel prices for optimal savings.

• Assists in the review of customer re-bill invoices submitted by accounting for approval.

• Assists in preparing/remitting barge reports to the Corps of Engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must

• Organized and detail-oriented

•Marine experience is preferred but not required

• Ability to assess risk and make safe risk-based decisions

• Proficient Computer Skills – MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
