Marine Crewing Coordinator

Patriot Maritime is a leading maritime contractor to the U.S. Government providing ship management services to MARAD, the Military Sealift Command (MSC), and commercial vessels. (www.patriotships.com) Offices are located in Concord, CA and Houston, TX. This position is an on-site position with the opportunity for hybrid remote work schedule.

Working closely with the Marine Personnel Manager the Crewing Coordinator works with maritime union partners, to crew vessels as applicable with the collective bargaining agreements. The Crewing Coordinator’s duties pertain to identification and vetting of qualified mariners to fill positions aboard company contracted vessels and the arrangement of mariner travel to/from the vessel.

Responsibilities & Authorities

• Verify crew USCG and STCW credentials
• Verify regulatory, customer and company training
• Arrange for and verify mariner fitness for duty
• Obtain and verify drug free status
• Obtain required position and qualification documentation
• Maintain personnel record for mariner by data entry to NS5 and to documentation files
• Arrange and make travel notifications in accordance with company policies to include; air, ground or water taxi arrangements and lodging
• Input and verify accuracy of sign on and sign off dates and vessels
• Working knowledge of vessel contractual union requirements
• Maintain good relations with customers, union hall personnel and mariners
• May assist with company administrative reporting requirements, investigations, budgeting, etc.
• Adhere to host country COVID travel regulations for incoming crew.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• Prior maritime experience required.
• A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a busy administrative or closely related position
• Able to demonstrate administrative, organization, cooperation, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to respond positively to crew and customers in an effective manner and during high-stress times
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to an ever-changing environment
• Understanding of business processes and functions
