Job description

MOO set out to shake up the world of print back in 2006. And we've come a long way since. Today we're a 400 + strong team (we're thinking of getting matching jackets) who create print and digital products for companies of all sizes - from Google and AirBnB to the guy who makes those amazing prints you found at a craft fair.

Our global HQ is in London, UK, while we also have premises in Dagenham. In the US, you'll find us in Boston, MA, as well as Lincoln, RI and Denver, CO.

We're making new and exciting things - and we could really do with your help.

MOOs diverse manufacturing team is composed of quality and process engineers, prepress specialists, manufacturing leads, technology engineers, and supply chain specialists. We span two geographies (US and UK) and are responsible for the delivery of premium print and hard good products to our customers. We're looking for a Manufacturing Workflow Technician to join our team.

Here at MOO, we're always looking to automate and bring more digital workflow tools into the way we print our products. We've been exploring what to buy, what to build, and we've naturally settled somewhere in the middle. We've been using a new manufacturing system that solves some, but not all of our problems. In this role, you'll be working in an innovative part of MOO's manufacturing team. You will build, improve, assess and productionize new workflow tools to improve how we manufacture our products for our largest manufacturing site.

This is an exciting opportunity in our East Providence, Rhode Island facility. We're looking for an energetic problem solver who is comfortable working independently and collaboratively across functions to advance MOO's manufacturing and production platform.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Quality & Engineering and will interact with leads in technology, prepress, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

    • Own day to day management and administration of MOO's manufacturing workflow platform
    • Engage with third party workflow vendor and application providers
    • Own setup and configuration of work plans for all products, attributes, and SKUs for MOO manufactured products
    • Work cross functionally with eCommerce leads to define product attributes and mapping between front end eCommerce engines and internal production workflows
    • Work with manufacturing leads to create and optimize workflows and work plans
    • Work cross functionally with manufacturing and technical teams to enable and configure scheduling, batching, and imposition logic associated with internal manufacturing workflows for new and existing products
    • Enable, configure, and manage product impositions across a multi press manufacturing environment
    • Build dashboards and reporting tools that allow manufacturing teams to see and analyze critical information
    • Troubleshoot internal workflow system challenges and issues in partnership with manufacturing and technical teams
    • Day to day troubleshooting with files/artwork issues in production.

    • The person we appoint to this role will be enthusiastic, imaginative, optimistic and keen to work as part of a team. To be considered for the role, you'll need to show you have:
    • Prepress experience including imposition, variable data, white ink or varnish file setup, dieline creation, folding, web printing, letterpress, preflighting workflows, and file manipulation.
    • 5+ years experience with XML or JDF workflow
    • 5+ years experience with data entry and data management systems

    • Software skills:
    • Adobe Creative Suite
    • Preflight software (pitstop pro, PDFToolbox, HP Autoflow, Enfocus Switch)
    • Excel based algorithm experience
    • Variable data software (HP smartstream designer, XMPie)
    • MES configuration and management

    • Workflow Experience:
    • Digital Front End (Esko, HP smartstream, Caldera, ONYX, Fiery)
    • Hotfolders, JDF, other input methods
    • Sheetfed and Web Digital presses
    • Integration of 3rd party order automation systems
    • Mapping orders from multiple sources or applications
    • XML / JDF implementation
    • Project management
    • Familiarity with HTML, XML , JSON and Excel
    • Familiarity with conditional logic, workflow events, and device settings
    • Awareness of factory flow, touchpoints and process improvement to automate when possible
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills
    • Solid problem solving skills and attention to detail
    • Good people, organizational, and analytical skills

Nice To Haves:
    • Prior experience working with Tulip and/or Siteflow
    • Jira/Confluence experience a plus
    • Etching/engraving hard goods
    • Project management and problem solving skills
