The Thermal Ceramics division designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of thermal insulation products that significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions in a variety of high temperature processing applications. Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY
Projects for each period are determined by the department manager or engineer to whom they are assigned. The student shall be briefed on each assignment prior to execution of the assignment. The projects are varied and may require assistance from other engineers or support staff. Co-op students will not work alone or be unsupervised. The projects will be process oriented in a manufacturing environment and will draw on all your faculties as an engineer. The skills that will be used will include but not be limited to electrical, chemical, mechanical, industrial, biomechanical, material and ceramic engineering.
- Writing standard operating procedures for processes around the site.
- Working the maintenance team to reduce frequency of equipment failure.
- Work in a team to solve complex engineering problems
- Perform Gage R&R testing on various quality testing procedures.
- Analyze various manufacturing processes on site and determine areas for improvement. Provide engineering solutions and business cases for each improvement.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Enrolled in a college or university offering a co-op program
- Attained minimum of Sophomore status.
- Pursuing a degree in Engineering
- Good Academic standing
- Previous experience in a professional environment desired.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling software desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Outstanding cross-functional communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
- Ability to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
- Frequent use of computer equipment (mouse, keyboard, etc.).
- Occasionally required to stoop, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department within a manufacturing environment and wear, when required, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear plugs and safety shoes.
- This position will work partially on the production floor, with periods of time in a controlled office environment.
- The noise level is consistently above 85 decibels when on the production floor.
- During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.
- Dust from machine processes is constantly present.
- The employee constantly works near mechanical parts and lift trucks.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products such as degreasers and silicone spray.
- Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area. Respirators may be required in specific areas of the plant.
