POSITION SUMARY: Under the supervision of the Regional Engineer, this position supports the organization’s Quality Control Management System; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collects and test samples for block / paver compression and absorption testing
- Maintains product performance data and issues supporting documentation as necessary
- Monitors production lines for consistent color, texture, material dimensions
- Perform material tests and inspects raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods to ensure they meet established standards for quality
- Report changes in strength with raw materials and finished product and quality to management
- Recommends corrective action when appropriate
- Document lab test results. Monitors process and documents changes as required
- Analyzes batch weights to make sure mix designs do not fluctuate
- Maintains Mix Designs and Batching Computer entries of all mix designs
- Coordinates and conducts weekly Block Plant Raw Materials density
- Prepares Product Samples for the Sales Department including color and texture approvals
- Contributes to overall business development utilizing the understanding of elements mentioned above
- Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies, ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with advance courses in laboratory testing technique.
- Requires one-to-three years of experience in a manufacturing laboratory environment.
- Advanced understanding of concrete
- Requires ability to operate forklift and pass an annual forklift certification course
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals such as ASTM Standards and NCMA Technical Bulletins.
- Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to operate office equipment to include calculator, computer, copy machine, document scanner, fax and telephones
- Keep work area clean
- Regular attendance is required
- Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Regular and predicable attendance is required.
