Job description

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Lead Process Technician, this position is responsible for maintaining and optimizing injection molding processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists Production and Quality Assurance departments in start-ups, operator training, and trouble-shooting process problems.
  • Maintains and establishes process parameters based on the decoupled molding technique.
  • Makes improvement suggestions for new and existing tools for better process capabilities.
  • Keeps accurate records of cycle sheets, process change logs, and mold PM books.
  • Assists with pulling and setting injection molds.
  • Performs basic Preventative Maintenance procedures on tooling and production machinery, coordinating repairs if necessary.
  • Fills in for the Lead Process Technician when needed

Minimum Qualifications – education / experience

  • Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two years related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Knowledge / Skills and Abilities

  • Comfort in relating to all levels of management and diversity of personalities.
  • Advanced attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Intermediate ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences.
  • Advanced reasoning ability: carry out written or oral instructions and problem solve.
  • Advanced ability to assist all departments and staff to adhere to prescribed processes for efficient and consistent administration of processing functions.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Arm-Hand Steadiness — The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Control Precision — The ability to adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
  • Multilimbed Coordination — The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Finger Dexterity — The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • Rate Control — The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object or scene.
  • Reaction Time — The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Static Strength — The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Trunk Strength — The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing.
  • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material — Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Work Environment – Work environment is usually loud.
  • Tools and Equipment – Scanner, company issued knives / cutters, electric and hand pallet jacks, mechanical hand tools.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Manufacturing: 2 years (Preferred)
