Manufacturing Process Engineer
(Direct Placement for Client)

SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a global company seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineerto join their facility in Oregon City, Oregon. This company is family owned that is always striving to create the best product. They have evolved from a small machine shop to a world-class U.S manufacturer, pushing boundaries of design and innovation.

Primary Function:
In this role, you will be translating design requirements into robust Manufacturing Processes. Reporting to the Development Engineering Manager, this position will directly interface with fellow Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and Marketing teams to meet New Product Introduction (NPI) timelines, cost targets, and process capabilities. 
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Assist technical teams through complex problem-solving activities
  • Schedule and lead phase gate meetings
  • Lead DFMA discussion for new products
  • Support Product Costing Estimations before parts are made and updates costing as the project progresses
  • Manage a variety of project ranging from small to large, varying in level of technicality with demanding schedules
  • Maintain and modify schedules as needed to ensure clear project schedule visibility to all departments
  • Evaluates, and creates risk mitigation plans as needed
  • Create product routings, and inspection plans for components
  • Design component fixturing
  • Perform Process Capability & Control studies for critical areas of manufacturing.
  • Support efforts in the creation of new processes to improve product quality and reduce manufacturing costs
  • Support Operations Manufacturing Engineering as required to meet corporate objectives
  • Leverage soft skills and relationship building techniques to engage the people in the process to gain buy-in and perspective
  • Ability to drive to root cause when complex issues arise

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or other related, and 1 year hands-on industrial and/or Manufacturing Engineering experience required
  • Preferred experience: milling, grinding, vibratory finishing, laser cutting, and assembly. Equivalency to the qualification standard will also be considered
  • Strong prioritization skills and flexibility to adjust based on organizational needs
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5M-1994 is desired
  • Experience using proven problem-solving methodologies
  • Proven approach and ability to analyze data and drive to root cause required
  • Demonstrated skill with CREO or other CAD package is desired
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis desired
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and team skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • A background in the principals of Lean manufacturing/development a plus
  • Knowledge and or experience of CNC programming with CAM software not required but a plus

Work Environment:
SHOP: Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
