About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:
Become a part of our team as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician in San Antonio, Texas, and drive excellence in quality, velocity, safety, and cost metrics. With your expertise in data analysis, investigation, and process validation, you'll play a key role in optimizing assembly processes. What you will do:
Provide technical support by leveraging data analytics and problem-solving techniques
Train, coach, and offer feedback to the Operations team, focusing on enhancing the assembly process
Identify, monitor, and analyze key metrics pertinent to the assigned department or function
Define and refine assembly process steps and standard work procedures based on industry best practices
Conduct regular reviews of assembly processes to prioritize key objectives and drive continuous improvement
Conduct audits to ensure adherence to quality standards for materials, processes, and tools
Assist in the submission and resolution of continuous improvement ideas to enhance operational efficiency
Furnish supervisors and managers with insights into processes within the designated area
Lead and facilitate small business team activities within the assigned work area
Respond promptly to engineering-related line calls to support the assembly process
Investigate and resolve Manufacturing Engineering defects, contributing to quality improvement initiatives
Participate in and support Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities, focusing on safety and process enhancements
Develop and enhance work instructions and standard operating procedures for the assembly processes
What you will have:
Self-starter with meticulous attention to detail
Ability to thrive within a multi-functional team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
1-2 years of experience in machining
What would make you a top candidate:
Associate degree or 3 years of experience in manufacturing
Proficiency in reading blueprints and reviewing 3D models
Experience with diesel engine assembly processes
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift at least 20lbs. and up to 80lbs.

$21/hour starting payrate
Monday - Friday, 10:00pm - 6:30am
Overtime as required
