Responsibilities:

  1. Process Design and Development: Developing and optimizing CNC machining processes to ensure efficient and accurate production. This includes selecting appropriate cutting tools, machining parameters, and tool paths to achieve desired part specifications.

  2. Programming: Creating and/or editing CNC programs that guide the machines in performing specific operations. This involves using programming languages like G-code to define tool movements, speeds, feeds, and tool changes.

  3. Tool Selection and Tooling Design: Choosing appropriate cutting tools and tool holders for different machining operations. Designing or selecting tooling solutions that optimize tool life, surface finish, and overall machining performance.

  4. Fixture Design: Designing workholding fixtures and setups that securely hold the workpiece in place during machining. Proper fixtures ensure accuracy, repeatability, and safety during CNC operations.

  5. Quality Assurance: Collaborating with quality control teams to establish inspection criteria and methods. Monitoring and analyzing part dimensions and tolerances to ensure they meet design specifications.

  6. Process Optimization: Continuously improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize scrap rates. This might involve implementing new cutting strategies, tooling advancements, or machine upgrades.

  7. Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues related to CNC machine performance, tool wear, part defects, and other manufacturing challenges. Diagnosing problems and implementing corrective actions.

  8. Collaboration: Working closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, production personnel, and machine operators, to ensure seamless coordination of production activities.

  9. Continuous Improvement: Participating in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance overall process effectiveness.

  10. New Technology Implementation: Keeping up-to-date with advancements in CNC machining technology, including tooling innovations, machine capabilities, and software updates. Introducing new technologies to enhance manufacturing processes.

  11. Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of CNC programs, process parameters, tooling selections, and any process changes. This documentation serves as a reference for future productions.

  12. Training and Support: Providing training and support to CNC operators and technicians to ensure proper execution of machining processes and safe operation of CNC equipment.

  13. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring that all CNC machining processes adhere to safety regulations and industry standards. Identifying potential hazards and implementing safety measures to mitigate risks.

  14. Cost Analysis: Monitoring and managing production costs related to machining processes, tooling, and materials. Identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality.
