We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations Support Team! This is a rewarding and exciting role that is both active in the production environment and in the development and new and improved processes. Apply now to become part of the preeminent aerospace engineering team.

This engineer will be assigned to a manufacturing cell and will be responsible for improving safety, quality, and throughput by solving problems. They will be part of a cross-functional team identifying root causes through real time problem resolution (RTPR) and by collaborating with the Quality Clinic.

This is an Onsite role located in Rome, NY

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This position has a strong focus on Welding and Joining processes
  • Analyzes and modifies product designs in collaboration with Design Engineering to assure manufacturability with a strong focus on welding/joining.
  • Develops design, selection, specification, and optimization of the required equipment, fixtures, tooling, gaging, processes, and operations.
  • Determines other technical matters required to make a given product according to the desired volume, timetable, cost, quality level, and other specifications.
  • Includes the monitoring of established processes via data collection for statistical analysis purposes as well as the use of various continuous improvement enablers.
  • Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing. Such design and development may include new or revised processes.
  • May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • "U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Close Tolerance Welding and Metal Joining Knowledge
  • Electron Beam Welding Experience
  • Welding Process Development and troubleshooting
  • Prior use and understanding of Process Capability (CpK) for process development
  • Measurement System Analysis
  • Root Cause Corrective Action experience
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean / Six Sigma experience
