Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at the facility in Salina, KSto plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in a production environment.
This position typically works Monday-Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Spend time on the production floor assisting with process improvements
- Conceptualize and maintain plant layouts
- Assist in capital purchases and projects
- Design or spec fixtures, carts, tooling, etc.
- Liaison between plant and product development to include submitting and managing engineering change requests
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs for management decisions
- Work closely with materials management to balance the flow of production through the plant
- Develop or revise standard operating and working practices
- Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in mechanical engineering or related field; or 2+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Lean advocate with demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and technology equipment.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, 3D Solid Modeling, Creo and Microsoft Office Products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
