About The Role - Manufacturing Electrical Engineer (Denver Tech Center, CO)
World's largest commercial explosives company seeking an Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for engineering governance within North America Business. This will include:
  • Support region to meet customer requirements as a subject matter expert on all Electrical Engineering and General Engineering Governance in a manner that manages risk to an acceptable level.
  • Maintain knowledge of national / international / industry engineering standards and codes relevant to the plant and equipment of the North American (NA) sites, including but not limited to:
  • Boilers; Electrical; Pumps; Safety Devices; Instrumentation
  • Maintain a working understanding of RE responsibilities and undertake the activities required to meet those responsibilities
  • Complete activities to allow the NA region to comply with the requirements of the Orica Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SHES) Management System.
  • Prevent a conflict of interest by ensuring there is a separation between an individual's daily operational duties and their role as RE
  • Not represent advice as an RE beyond their qualification, unless referencing advise from functional advisors who would otherwise be suitable for appointment as an RE
  • Engage with the relevant Expert Panel when dealing with issues relating to:
  • Basis of Safety (BoS); Process Design; Process Technology; Product Design
  • Maintain networks, both internally and externally, to have knowledge of incidents, technical developments, regulatory requirements, and emerging issues in their qualification and raise these with line management as required.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and cooperation with other regions
  • Review and make recommendations on new engineering projects to ensure plant and equipment complies with relevant engineering standards and codes
  • Participate in Hazard Studies for major projects
  • Participate in investigations for incidents / events related to plant and equipment
  • Mentor and assess the competency of other engineers and technicians
  • Approve training documents and provide input during the development of training packages for operation and maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Site Engineering audits

Work Environment
  • Field work environment in all types of weather and harsh climates
  • Moderate physical stress and occasional long hours
  • Up to 50% travel both domestic and international - Canada & Mexico
  • Required activities include sitting, walking, reaching, bending, frequent use of hands, occasional lifting up to 40 pounds, ascending and descending stairs and ladders

Your qualifications
  • Engineering Degree (Electrical, Instrumentation)
  • Or
  • More than 5 years' experience working as a Project Engineer
  • Experience managing technical people across geographies.

Bilingual - English, French Canadian and Spanish preferred

Compensation Range
  • Salary Range $73,470 - $104,957
  • Eligible for annual short-term incentive plan
