Position Title:Managing Director of Kawanti Adventures


Department: Administration


Reporting To: CEO


Reporting to You: ARS Operations Managers, Karts Operations Manager, Juneau Operations Manager, Retail Manager, Food & Beverage Manager


Role Summary: The Managing Director will work with the senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives to identify growth opportunities, decrease inherent risks, improve financial performance, customer satisfaction, experience, and quality while maintaining safe operations and a just culture. This position will promote the company’s products and services, working closely with cruise line, industry partners, and independent sales channels to gain best in brand recognition, to improve revenue and operating income.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties Include, but are not limited to:

· Motivate, lead, communicate and further develop a high-performance Vision, Mission, and Values to staff, customers, and stakeholders.

· Provide strategic direction to Kawanti Adventures operations.

· Foster a safe and efficiency-based culture, operating environment, and accountability program through Kawanti.

· Through close coordination and cooperation with the senior leadership team, provide leadership for businesses and staff to maximize revenue, ensure efficient operations, and operating margins.

· Work with senior leadership team to develop and implement strategies to grow existing products, identify opportunities, and develop opportunities through to commercial implementation across companies (including operational implementation for Kawanti Adventures).

· Represent all companies within the communities, state, and tourism industry.

· Analyze current Kawanti Adventures business ROI and develop a progressive strategy to increase product yield.

· Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to gain and maintain best in class brand recognition and revenue growth through direct and commercial bookings across all companies.

· Track operational contracts and leases to ensure compliance and renewals required in coordination with the Managing Director of Taquan Air

· Work with the senior leadership team to develop initiatives and create an annual budget for Kawanti Adventures, aligned with the Company goals through collaboration with operations management.

· Meet or exceed budgeted financial and operating metrics.

· Identify, evaluate, coordinate, and implement appropriate technological enhancement at Kawanti.

· Work closely with the cruise ship dock operations and dock sales teams to ensure the highest level of internal and external customer service.

· Oversee recruitment, hiring, evaluation and staff development and training programs for Kawanti Adventures and applicable departments.

· Ensure operational compliance for Kawanti Adventures.

· Coach, lead, mentor and utilize company policies and procedures to maintain a first in class team for Kawanti Adventures

· Develop a succession plan for key positions.

· Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

· Skilled in organization, time, and project management and able to lead a diverse team to meet individual and company goals and set priorities.

· Ability to see the big picture and organize self and others to execute objective accurately.

· Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely with diverse populations.

· Technical skills required to create proposals and find solutions to meet operational and sales requirements, including software programs.

· Ability to be a self-starter who prioritizes a high volume of tasks and works well under pressure and time constraints, meeting deadlines and expectations.

· Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing job requirements in a fast paced and evolving industry.

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborate across work segments with diverse personalities and departmental requirements.

· Ability to have reliable attendance and be flexible in working an evening or weekend day when workloads are excessive and recognize opportunities to contribute to other areas when individual workloads are light.

· Skilled in problem solving and analytics.

· Knowledge of product and customer service specialization.

· Ability to identify solutions, execute standard processes and explain policy and procedures.

· Ability to develop, manage and analyze budgets and financial reports, and to initiate corrective actions where required.

· Ability to collaborate with other members of the senior leadership team on commercial, financial, operational, and strategic issues related to the company’s overall performance and future direction.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

· Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring a positive culture among peers and subordinates.

· Ability to conduct oneself with the highest level of integrity.


Experience/Education Requirements:

· Must have a bachelor’s degree in business or related field, and at least 5 years’ experience working in sales and operations relating to the visitor industry, or related area.

OR

· At least 10 years of experience working in sales and operations relating to the visitor industry, or related area.
