To support the Healthcare Practice, McAllister & Quinn invites applications for the Managing Director, Healthcare Practice. Reporting to the Vice President &Practice Team Leader for the Healthcare Practice, with guidance and direction provided by the Senior Vice President overseeing strategic practice development, the Managing Director will be integral to shaping the growth, development, and success of the practice. Key responsibilities of this position will include*:

  • Practice Management: Build, refine and direct internal operations and workflow of the Healthcare Practice. Develop best practices related to client onboarding, including development of standard onboarding documents and post-onboarding deliverables. Assist in recruitment of talent to support practice. Conduct analysis of current client base, track metrics, and refine products. Develop in-depth understanding of the practice’s client portfolio and identify opportunities to streamline service delivery. Support knowledge management and maintenance of practice resources, communications, and collaboration spaces in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Lead knowledge and resource sharing at practice meetings and retreats. Collaborate with firm-wide stakeholders across McAllister & Quinn practices.
  • Business Development and Communications: Support the design and implementation of Practice marketing strategy and external communications. Analyze current client base and develop metrics to better position M&Q to compete in the marketplace, write and edit content for website, proposals, presentations, and other projects. Support content development and presentation delivery for externally facing presentations. Conduct capture research for new business development opportunities. Provide proposal coordination and management for RFP responses. Support and participate in business development meetings with prospective clients. Ability to demonstrate pre-existing relationships with key decision makers in leadership positions in hospitals and health systems across the country is a plus.
  • Federal Funding & Policy Analysis: Proactively gather, analyze, and monitor strategic intelligence including the following: monitor healthcare related funding opportunities and prepare briefings, track larger medical, biomedical, and health research initiatives, track and analyze relevant healthcare, science and technology legislation and policy, conduct funding landscape analyses, and track and analyze healthcare funding initiatives through the annual appropriations process. Identify key areas of interest to hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers and collaborate to plan and execute the practice’s intelligence gathering and analysis to address these issues. Oversee development of Healthcare Practice Grants Matrix and healthcare funding analyses.
  • Client Services Support: Support existing client services including research and content creation for client projects including training engagements; presentations; written communications; and summaries of funding opportunities. Support internal consultations for new service development and innovation.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in a relevant field.
  • Language Fluency: English
  •  At least 7-10 years of relevant professional experience, including supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience and interest in business development including:
    • identifying potential clients, conducting strategic outreach to decision-makers, and responding to inquiries for information and/or requests for proposals and
    • experience generating and editing original marketing content.
  • Experience and interest in working with health providers, specifically, but not limited to, hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers with:
    • particular focus on working with such institutions to seek external grant funding and/or
    • experience working in or with sponsored programs/research administration role(s), preferably in a hospital/health system/academic medical center
  • Experience and interest in public policy,
    • With a specific focus on healthcare funding trends and policy developments affecting health providers, with a primary focus on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and
    • a demonstrated understanding of congressional legislative and federal appropriations processes.
  • Other important skills include:
    • Ability to synthesize and accurately summarize lengthy and complex materials.
    • Comfortable researching new topics, gathering information, and distilling research into useful preliminary recommendations on short timeframes.
    • Excellent writing and editing skills.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Strategic, creative, service oriented, and adaptive professional mindset.
    • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.
    • Project planning and management experience and skills.
    • Able to remain in a stationary position during the workday (up to 80%), move about inside the office to access files, cabinets, office machinery, supplies, and carry items to various locations in the office.
