Manager, Vfx Finance

Our client, the world's leading entertainment streaming service, is looking for a Manager, VFX Finance. For this role, we seek an experienced Film or Series Accountant or Production Finance professional with a strong understanding of VFX-related financial tracking to join us as a Manager, Visual Effects Finance. This person should be well versed in the challenges inherent in projecting and dealing with multiple currencies, government tax incentives, and tying financial controls to visual effects production milestones. Key to the position is the ability to help review VFX budget estimates, project potential gains, and shortfalls in incentives, liaise with Film Production Finance (Production & Post) for downstream needs, and communicate with show-side Accountants, Post Accountants, and VFX Producers/Accountants.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, quick-thinking, flexible, able to pivot when necessary, thorough, and able to juggle multiple and diverse responsibilities with a strong emphasis on organization and unwavering attention to detail at all times. This person should intuitively understand and appreciate right-sizing budgets and customizing approaches to visual effects (including virtual production techniques) in alignment with a specific Title, from high-end spectacle to story-serving invisible effects. This is a demanding and fast-moving position that requires someone who is a rigorous and positive thinker and able to exercise good judgment and initiative.
This is an onsite 11-month contract. You must be able to work in Los Angeles, CA, with no H1B Visa status. The hourly rate is $83.75 - $ 120 per hour. No C2C.
Responsibilities:

• Act as a communication bridge between Visual Effects and Production Finance both at the Client and on a given Show.
• Serve as a backstop for incentive tracking and liaise with Tax & Production Finance to keep projections current.
• Work closely with the VFX Department drafting internal budgets based on scenario planning.
• Partner with show-side accountants and VFX accountants to ensure cost report alignment.
• Historical research and data analysis in support of the Director of VFX, Client Production Finance, and Resource Planning teams.
• Work with VFX Associate Managers to improve internal VFX financial tracking workflows.
• Help VFX Title Management teams with Hot Cost tracking and relationship to potential overages.

• 4 years of experience in roles in finance/accounting for films or series, with emphasis on post and VFX accounting.
• A passion for visual effects and the technology and artistry that makes it possible.
• Experience navigating VFX vendor bids and a working knowledge of budgeting for visual effects - including crews.
• Knowledge of VFX incentives and common risks/pitfalls associated with them.
• Diplomacy and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and confidential matters.
• Ability to pivot quickly in running analysis, scenario planning, and responding to shifting priorities.
• Outstanding executive communication and mastery of the ability to influence without authority.
• Team player who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
• Desire and self-motivation to continuously learn.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
